Ambientia delivers e-commerce solutions for retail primarily through two different approaches:
1. Composable Commerce
Composable Commerce refers to a modular e-commerce architecture, where the solution is not dependent on a single platform or service but is built from multiple services. A key principle is making use of the company's existing back-end systems. By integrating different services together, a seamless and consistent experience can be created for end users and other stakeholders alike.
If a company already uses multiple back-end systems (such as ERP, OMS, CMS, CRM, PIM, CDP or WMS) and business processes are managed through them, this is often the best and most cost-effective approach. In this model, the user interface, or frontend, is built separately and integrated with the various back-end systems.
2. Shopify E-commerce Platform
Shopify is particularly well suited for organisations with relatively lightweight back-end systems or a limited number of them. Shopify includes a wide range of built-in features that support a seamless customer experience and make activities such as content creation and campaign management fast and efficient.
Shopify can be extended with complementary services such as Global-e, making it easier to expand sales internationally. It can also be enhanced with B2B capabilities through the Sparklayer add-on.
Shopify continues to invest heavily in the development of its e-commerce platform (for example, €1.7 billion in 2024), and its capabilities will continue to expand in the future.
